My search for the best essential oil blend for sleep was part of a decades-long quest to overcome a lifetime of sleep-related troubles. The main thing I struggle with is falling asleep — sleeping pills do help with this, but I avoid taking them whenever I can because I dislike the way they make me feel groggy and out of sorts when I wake up.

That’s one reason why I started pursuing essential oils as a potential solution; many offer sleep-related benefits, and they’re generally free from the drawbacks that come along with taking sleep meds. Studies have shown that lavender essential oil, marjoram essential oil, and other oils can have a beneficial impact on sleep quality.

The idea of being able to diffuse essential oils instead of taking sleep meds was certainly an attractive one, but I soon discovered it would take me a lifetime to try all the essential oil diffuser blend recipes that promise to be the “best sleep diffuser blend” (to say nothing of the cost of all the individual oils!)

Luckily, I eventually came up with a blend of the best essential oils for sleep that has been my trusty bedtime companion for some time now: Slumber Essential Oil Blend. No need to mess with dozens of diffuser recipes when a great blend of pure essential oils that will help improve your sleep already exists!

What Makes Slumber The Best Essential Oil Blend For Sleep?

If you’re new to using essential oils, you might feel skeptical about whether they can really help you relax, unwind, and enjoy more restful sleep — and that’s okay! Essential oils really can help you get the deep sleep you need, and here we’ll explore what goes into Slumber essential oil blend that makes it the best oil blend for sleep.

Slumber features a variety of essential oils with sleep-promoting properties, from relaxing the body to calming the mind. Here’s a quick look at the oils that go into this stress-relieving, calming and soothing blend:

  • Lavender: Lavender essential oil is one of the most well-known essential oils for sleep. Its calming and anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing) effects can contribute to a sense of calm and relaxation, making it a natural addition to any sleep blend.
  • Cedarwood: Cedarwood essential oil can have a grounding and calming effect on both the mind and body that may help to promote restful sleep.
  • Lime: Lime essential oil has a refreshing and uplifting scent, and while citrus oils aren’t typically associated with sedative effects, they can contribute to a positive mood — helpful for those bouts of late-night anxiety!
  • Bergamot: Bergamot oil and its citrus-meets-floral aroma are often used to alleviate stress, enhance mood, and promote relaxation.
  • Marjoram: Marjoram essential oil is believed to have calming and sedative effects that can aid in better sleep.
  • Vetiver: Vetiver essential oil has a deep, earthy scent that has a grounding and centering effect. It is often used to promote relaxation and may contribute to a restful night’s sleep.

Note: This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of essential oils with relaxing or sleep-promoting properties! Roman chamomile, frankincense, ylang-ylang, and other oils can be useful too, but it’s hard to beat the savings and convenience of a ready-made sleep blend like Slumber!

Does Slumber Really Help You Sleep Better?

Does Slumber really help promote better sleep? While it is my personal favorite essential oil blend to use at bedtime, you don’t have to take my word for it — see what others have been saying about their experience with Slumber:

"Slumber was my last hope. I have tried everything from melatonin, to Advil PM, to Dowdow, to sleep patches. Nothing helped until I got this Slumber Essential Oil. I have been sleeping ever since and that is a whole week which has never happened before. Try it and sleep like a baby."

Monica G.

"I skeptically got the Slumber oil to see if it worked, nothing else I had tried did. To my surprise, it worked. It helped me relax and for the first time in months I got a good night’s sleep. A little goes a long way because it is such a high quality product."

Mary

"I have tried various products to help with sleep, both prescription and over-the-counter. With this one, I have no problem falling asleep. And more importantly, falling back to sleep after my nightly bathroom trip is also easy. Highly recommend it."

Carolyn

"I saw Slumber advertised and I was very skeptical but since I do believe that essential oils can work I decided to try it. I thought it was just a coincidence that I slept soundly till the morning my first night. Well I have been using it now for over two weeks and every night I have had the same outcome, peaceful, full night of sleep. This product really does work and I will be using it from now on and I have been telling others about it. I have finally found a product that doesn’t make me groggy in the morning and is all natural. I am very happy and grateful to Jillee for this amazing oil."

5 Easy Ways To Use Slumber Blend At Bedtime

1. As A Diffuser Blend

Add a few drops of Slumber blend to your diffuser for quick and easy sleep aromatherapy. Turn on your diffuser, hop in bed, and soon, the relaxing aroma will fill your bedroom, helping both you and your partner get a restful night of sleep.

2. In An Aromatherapy Gel

Don’t own a diffuser? No problem! Making your own DIY aromatherapy gel jar is like having a mini diffuser that you don’t have to plug in or add water to.

Silence Snoring: When used in a diffuser or DIY gel jar, Slumber can also help to quiet snoring. According to reviewer Jennifer W.: “It works! I snore, and my husband often moves to another room. Since using Slumber, we both have more restful nights in the same room.”

3. In A Roller Bottle

One of my favorite ways to use Slumber blend is to apply it to the bottoms of my feet at bedtime. The Slumber Blend Ready-To-Apply Roll-On is perfect for this because all you have to do is twist off the cap and swipe it on!

You can easily make your own Slumber roller bottle at home, too. Just add 5-10 drops of Slumber to a glass roller bottle, top it off with a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil, then replace the top and give it a good shake to mix.

4. In A Salve

If you dream of great sleep and softer feet, use Slumber to make a moisturizing Sleep Salve! Simply follow my all-natural salve recipe and add Slumber blend where it calls for essential oils.

Apply a generous amount of your finished Sleep Salve to your feet before bed, then pull on a pair of socks. You’ll not only get some high-quality shut-eye, but you’ll wake up with softer, smoother feet, too!

5. In A Calming Spray

Finally, you can use Slumber blend to make a simple sleep-promoting spray that’s perfect for misting over bedding and pillows. This is a gentler and more subtle option that will still help with rest and relaxation, making it a great option for children or people who are sensitive to strong scents.

To make a Slumber spray, add eight drops of essential oils and 1/2 cup of distilled water to a small spray bottle. Replace the spray top, shake well to mix, and spray lightly over bedding 15 minutes or so before bedtime. (Applying it later may leave the bedding feeling damp, while applying it earlier may cause the aroma to dissipate prematurely).
